Burpalite from Burpala, Siberia, Russia – miniature specimen as unique piece
This miniature specimen features Burpalite from its type locality at Burpala in Siberia. The rare mineral is embedded within a compact dark green to grayish green matrix and occurs in the characteristic granular to massive habit typical of this occurrence. No individual crystals are visibly developed on this specimen. Nevertheless, the fine-grained texture and provenance from a classic locality make it an interesting collector specimen for enthusiasts of rare minerals from Russia's alkaline rock complexes.
Geology & Origin
Burpalite is a rare titanium silicate first described from the alkaline rocks of the Burpala Massif in Siberia. This locality belongs to a group of unusual magmatic complexes renowned for producing numerous rare mineral species. Burpalite forms under specialized geochemical conditions within alkaline intrusive rocks and is most commonly found as embedded massive aggregates. Specimens from the type locality therefore possess both mineralogical significance and collector appeal.
