Burangaite, with old label from Horrsjöberg, Sweden – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen features Burangaite from Horrsjöberg in Sweden and is accompanied by an old original label. The piece consists of a light grey to whitish matrix intersected by delicate blue-green, grey-blue, and occasional reddish-brown color zones. Fine crystalline areas give the specimen a sparkling, slightly granular surface, while the colored patches highlight the characteristic appearance of this rare mineral. The combination of soft blue and green hues makes the specimen visually appealing and representative of the varied mineral assemblages from Horrsjöberg.

Geology & Origin

Horrsjöberg is one of the classic Swedish localities known for its complex mineral assemblages, often enriched in manganese and iron. Burangaite forms within metamorphically influenced carbonate rocks when boron- and halogen-bearing fluids react with aluminum-rich zones. The locality has produced numerous rare mineral species over the decades, and Burangaite is among the characteristic but relatively uncommon ones. This specimen displays the typical color-zoned habit of this unusual mineral in an especially representative form.
