Brazilianite crystal from Capelinhas, Brazil – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen features a well-formed Brazilianite crystal of attractive transparent to translucent quality. The crystal displays the characteristic yellowish green color typical of Brazilianite and shows clearly developed crystal faces with a vitreous luster. Its transparency and harmonious coloration give the specimen a particularly aesthetic appearance. The crystal is preserved in a largely free-standing position, allowing an excellent view of the natural crystal habit of this highly sought-after phosphate mineral.

Geology & Origin

Brazilianite is a rare sodium aluminium phosphate and is among the most famous collector minerals from the pegmatites of Brazil. The mineral forms in phosphate-rich granitic pegmatites and commonly develops transparent to translucent crystals ranging from yellow to greenish yellow. The Capelinhas locality is one of the classic Brazilian occurrences known for producing high-quality crystals. Due to its attractive color, brilliance and rarity, Brazilianite is regarded as one of the most desirable phosphate minerals among collectors worldwide.
