Bottinoite and Polydymite crystlas from Dörnberg, Ramsbeck, Sauerland, Germany– miniature specimen as unique piece
This miniature specimen displays an especially attractive and mineralogically interesting association of Bottinoite and Polydymite from the famous Ramsbeck mining district in Germany. Numerous colorless to translucent Bottinoite crystals with vitreous luster form an appealing crystal group on the specimen. Striking turquoise to greenish blue mineral coatings together with yellowish Polydymite aggregates provide a remarkable visual contrast. The crystals are clearly visible and create an unusual and highly collectible combination of rare secondary and sulfide minerals.
Geology & Origin
The Ramsbeck deposits are among the most important historic lead and zinc ore occurrences in Germany. Weathering and alteration processes within these deposits produced a wide range of rare secondary minerals, including the very rare Bottinoite, a hydrated nickel antimony arsenate. Polydymite is a nickel-bearing sulfide mineral typically associated with hydrothermal ore deposits. The occurrence of both minerals together on a single specimen is uncommon and makes this piece from the Sauerland region an attractive collector's specimen for enthusiasts of rare German mineral localities.
