Bornite fromSan Martin, Zacatecas, Mexico – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen displays Bornite from San Martin, Zacatecas, Mexico, with a strongly textured, naturally formed surface and vivid iridescent coloration. The surface shows a lively interplay of metallic blue, green, violet, and copper tones that shift with changing light, giving the piece a highly dynamic appearance. The irregular, compact shape emphasizes the raw character of the material and makes this unique specimen an expressive example of this copper-rich sulfide.

Geology & Origin

Bornite forms in hydrothermal ore deposits, commonly associated with other copper minerals within magmatic or sedimentary host rocks affected by later alteration. The San Martin locality in Zacatecas is part of an important Mexican mining district known for its diverse copper mineralization. Oxidation and surface alteration processes create the characteristic colorful patina that gives Bornite its distinctive iridescent appearance.
