Boltwoodite crystals from Goniakontes, Swakopmund, Namibia – miniature specimen as unique piece

This exceptional miniature specimen features bright yellow to orange Boltwoodite crystals within a small cavity. The crystals form spherical to radiating aggregates that contrast beautifully against the dark quartz matrix. Their vivid color and clearly visible crystal rosettes give the specimen strong visual appeal. The crystals are well developed and protected within the cavity of the host rock, creating an especially attractive display surface.

Geology & Origin

Boltwoodite is a rare hydrated potassium uranium silicate that forms as a secondary mineral during the alteration of uranium-bearing deposits. The Goniakontes area near Swakopmund in Namibia is known for its uranium mineral occurrences within the Erongo region and has produced numerous rare uranium minerals sought after by collectors and researchers. Oxidation of primary uranium minerals has led to the formation of colorful secondary species, including Boltwoodite. Because of its rarity and attractive crystal aggregates, Boltwoodite is considered a desirable uranium mineral among specialized collectors.

Legal notice: Boltwoodite contains uranium and is therefore radioactive. This mineral is intended exclusively for collecting, research and display purposes. Proper storage and responsible handling are recommended.
