Beraunite and Ferristrunzite crystals from Blaton, Belgium – miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen features Beraunite and Ferristrunzite crystals from Blaton in Belgium. The surface displays a striking mix of colors: dark grey to black areas contrast with yellow to ochre tones produced by characteristic iron phosphate coatings. Fine-grained, slightly matte to subtly shimmering aggregates of Beraunite and Ferristrunzite sit on the dark matrix, forming irregular, texture-rich patches. The warm yellow and orange hues scattered across the piece are typical of oxidized phosphate formations from this locality, giving the specimen a vivid and distinctive appearance.

Geology & Origin

Blaton in Belgium is one of the classic European localities for secondary iron phosphates formed in highly oxidized zones of former iron ore deposits. Beraunite and Ferristrunzite develop through the alteration of primary phosphate minerals under the influence of iron-rich fluids and shifting oxidation conditions. The locality is known for its vividly colored yellow to orange phosphate crusts and continues to provide characteristic miniature specimens with densely intergrown micro-aggregates of these rare mineral species.
