Beraunite, Laubmannite, Kidwellite and Rockbridgeite from York Mine, Arkansas, USA – 1 unique flat

A colorful and scientifically valuable micromount collection of iron phosphate minerals in TN size, mostly on contrasting matrix. The specimens show well-defined, often botryoidal or crust-like aggregates in various shades of green, ochre, brown and black – especially Kidwellite and Rockbridgeite. Many pieces display striking zoning and color variation, some featuring multiple mineral species on the same matrix.

Geology & Origin

The York Mine in Arkansas is a classic locality for secondary iron phosphates. These minerals form through the alteration of primary phosphate-bearing ores under oxidizing conditions. Phosphate species such as Kidwellite, Laubmannite or Rockbridgeite are among the rarer representatives of their group and are often associated with iron oxides in brecciated zones. The mine is considered one of the historically significant phosphate localities in the USA.

The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
