Benjaminite from the Outlaw Mine, Nye Co., NV, USA – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen features Benjaminite on a light-colored matrix from the Outlaw Mine in Nevada. The rare mineral occurs as dark gray to black metallic aggregates that contrast distinctly with the pale host matrix. The crystals are small but recognizable and can be examined well under magnification. The combination of a rare mineral species and a classic locality makes this specimen particularly attractive for systematic mineral collectors and micromount specialists.

Geology & Origin

Benjaminite is an extremely rare lead bismuth sulfosalt formed in hydrothermal ore deposits. The Outlaw Mine in Nye County, Nevada, is one of the few known localities for this mineral and has produced some of the finest collector specimens. The mineral occurs together with other lead, silver and bismuth minerals in complex ore veins. Due to its rarity and the limited number of known occurrences, Benjaminite is highly regarded by both mineralogists and collectors.
