Bellbergite crystals from Bellerberg, Eifel, Germany – micromount as unique piece

This micromount specimen features Bellbergite from the well-known Bellerberg locality in Germany's Eifel region. The tiny specimen consists of matrix carrying a fine crystal coating of this rare zeolite mineral. Despite its small size, the crystals can be observed under magnification and clearly demonstrate the characteristic occurrence of Bellbergite within the volcanic rocks of the Eifel. Due to the rarity of the mineral, specimens of this kind are primarily collected as micromounts.

Geology & Origin

Bellbergite is a rare zeolite mineral that was first described from the Bellerberg locality near Mayen and was named after this occurrence. It forms in cavities within volcanic rocks where mineral-rich fluids produced delicate crystal aggregates. Bellerberg is one of Germany's most important classic mineral localities and is particularly renowned for its diversity of rare zeolite species. Original specimens from this type locality are therefore highly valued for both their mineralogical significance and collector appeal.
