This miniature specimen displays embedded Batisite crystals densely intergrown within the dark matrix. The metallic to slightly silky crystal areas create a fine grained and richly textured surface with a silvery gray shimmer. The material originates from the Murun Massif in Siberia, an exceptional alkaline rock province known for numerous rare and unusual mineral species.
Geology & Origin
The Murun Massif in Siberia is considered one of the most mineralogically interesting alkaline complexes in Russia. Batisite is a rare titanium sodium calcium silicate occurring there together with other exotic minerals in metasomatically altered rocks. Specimens from Murun are highly appreciated among collectors of specialized mineral species because of their rarity and their unusual geological formation environment.
