Barysilite (UV!) from Långban, Sweden– micromount as unique piece

This specimen features a compact, brownish-reddish Barysilite with a typical habit set on a light matrix. The surface displays a subtle silky to metallic luster and contrasts clearly with its surroundings. Under UV light, the Barysilite exhibits a strong reddish-orange fluorescence, making it especially appealing to collectors of fluorescent minerals.

Geology & Origin

Barysilite is a rare manganese-iron silicate found at only a handful of locations worldwide. The type locality at Långban, Sweden, is one of Europe’s most famous mineral sites, renowned for its exceptional mineral diversity. At this site, Barysilite typically occurs in association with other manganese-rich silicates and rare arsenates and phosphates. Its UV fluorescence is a hallmark of this locality, making this micromount both scientifically and aesthetically valuable.
