Azurite-Brochantite crystals, Pseudomorph from the Serpieri Mine, Laurion, Greece– miniature specimen as unique piece

This vibrant small cabinet specimen features a variety of greenish-blue zones contrasting with ochre and brown matrix areas. The transitions between Azurite and Brochantite are clearly visible, indicating an advanced stage of pseudomorphosis. The piece has an open and layered structure with multiple visible growth surfaces and cavities.

Geology & Origin

The Serpieri Mine, located in the historic mining district of Laurion, is one of Greece's classic localities for secondary copper minerals. Azurite forms under oxidizing conditions, while Brochantite may occur later as an alteration product. In this specimen, both minerals are closely associated – partly through pseudomorphic replacement and partly as coexisting phases – making it geologically and visually striking.
