Azoproite from Tazheran, Baikal, Russia – micromount as unique piece
This micromount features Azoproite from the Tazheran area near Lake Baikal in Russia, a locality known for rare silicate minerals formed in metasomatic rocks. The specimen displays a fine-grained grey-white mottled texture with no well-developed crystals visible, which is typical for Azoproite that usually occurs in massive or granular aggregates.
Geology & Origin
Azoproite forms in highly metamorphosed carbonate–silicate rocks that have been altered by metasomatic fluids. The Tazheran region represents a geologically complex zone rich in metamorphic assemblages, providing ideal conditions for the formation of rare minerals such as Azoproite. This specimen is a representative example of material from this distinctive locality.
