Aurostibite from Krasna Hora, Czech Republic– micromount as unique piece
This compact specimen shows a silvery-grey to dark metallic surface with subtle iridescent reflections. Its matte texture points to a fine-grained composition in dense aggregates, embedded in a light matrix. The overall appearance is typical of Aurostibite-bearing assemblages from antimony-rich deposits.
Geology & origin
Aurostibite is a rare member of the sulfosalt group, occurring as a natural gold-antimony sulfide. It forms under hydrothermal conditions at moderate temperatures and is typically associated with stibnite, pyrite, or arsenopyrite. Krasna Hora in the Czech Republic is a classic locality, historically renowned for its gold and antimony ores since the Middle Ages. This piece is a representative example from this significant mining district.
