Aurichalcite crystals on Cuprite from Tsumeb, Namibia – micromount as unique piece

This visually striking micromount specimen features delicate, needle-like Aurichalcite crystals in intense turquoise-green color on an oxidized matrix with dark Cuprite and translucent reddish sections. The distinct color contrast combined with the fine crystal texture makes this a highly attractive collector’s specimen despite its small size.

Geology & Origin

Aurichalcite is a basic copper-zinc carbonate that typically forms in the oxidation zones of zinc and copper deposits. Tsumeb, one of the most famous mineral localities worldwide, is known for producing Aurichalcite in association with Cuprite, Malachite, and Smithsonite. This historic mine yielded countless scientifically valuable and visually appealing specimens over the decades, as exemplified by this compact sample.
