Embedded Astrophyllite crystals with old label from Kipawa River, Canada – miniature specimen as unique piece
This miniature specimen features several embedded crystals of Astrophyllite with golden-brown to bronze metallic reflections set in a light matrix. The fan-like structures are partially well preserved and stand in appealing contrast to the beige and black areas of the surrounding rock. The included vintage label indicates the historic origin from this classic Canadian locality.
Geology & Origin
Astrophyllite is a titanium-bearing sheet silicate that typically forms in sodium-rich alkaline rocks such as nepheline syenites. The Kipawa River site in Québec is among the most renowned occurrences worldwide, known for pegmatite-hosted minerals including Astrophyllite in characteristic intergrowths with rare-earth minerals. The locality is now largely depleted, adding collectible value to this specimen.
