Geology & origin

Asbecasite is a rare calcium silicate mineral containing arsenic, known mainly from a few alpine localities in Switzerland. It typically forms in high-grade contact metamorphic skarn environments, such as those found near Cherbadung in the Binntal. This region has long been recognized for producing exceptional arsenic-bearing minerals. The offered specimen originates from one of these classic alpine zones and showcases the complex geological interplay between granite and limestone formations.
