Arsenuranospatite crystals from Menzenschwandt, Black Forest, Germany– miniature specimen as unique piece
This specimen displays a dark reddish to black matrix with orange-yellow and yellow-green zones, typical of uranium-bearing arsenates like Arsenuranospathite. The mineral forms shiny patches on the surface, showing a subtle metallic luster under light.
Geology & origin
Arsenuranospathite is a rare secondary uranium mineral that forms during the alteration of primary uranium phases in the presence of arsenic. The locality of Menzenschwandt in the Black Forest is well known for its variety of rare uranium minerals related to historic uranium mining. This piece represents a classic association of oxidized uranium minerals from a geologically significant area in Germany.
