Arsenocrandallite crystals from the Clara Mine, Black Forest, Germany– micromount as unique piece

This micromount features Arsenocrandallite crystals from the famous Clara Mine in the Black Forest, a classic locality renowned for its diverse assemblage of secondary arsenates and phosphates. The specimen shows fine-grained to powdery surfaces with the characteristic yellow to ochre coatings typical of Arsenocrandallite. The crystals are microscopically developed, exhibiting a matte, earthy texture formed through secondary processes under oxidizing conditions.

Geology & Origin

Arsenocrandallite forms in the oxidation zone of arsenic-rich ore veins and belongs to the crandallite group. The Clara Mine provides ideal geochemical conditions for the development of rare arsenates, where hydrothermal activity followed by oxidative alteration produces vivid secondary mineral coatings such as those seen on this specimen.
