Arseniopleite from Langban, Sweden – miniature specimen as unique piece
This miniature specimen features Arseniopleite from Långban, Sweden. Within the dark fine grained matrix, a lighter irregular zone hosts the Arseniopleite. The marked area shows a fine crystalline to compact development, with individual crystal structures only partly distinguishable. The mineralization is clearly visible and stands out from the surrounding rock due to its lighter color, creating an interesting contrast.
Geology & origin
Långban is one of the most important localities worldwide for rare manganese and arsenic bearing minerals and is famous for its extraordinary mineral diversity. Arseniopleite forms in these complex deposits under specific geochemical conditions and is often associated with other rare mineral species. The locality has produced scientifically significant and highly collectible specimens for over a century from one of Europe’s most mineralogically diverse regions.
