Arsendescloizite crystals from the C&B Mine, Gila Co., Arizona, USA, Gerd Tremmel collection – small cabinet specimen as unique piece

Arsendescloizite crystals from the C&B Mine, Gila County, Arizona, USA, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The specimen displays finely distributed, mostly small crystals in orange to reddish-brown hues, spread across a light to dark brown matrix. Individual crystals are recognizable, but they predominantly occur as dense, granular crystal aggregates, giving the surface an uneven and textured appearance. The strong color contrast between the arsenate crystals and the matrix makes this piece a typical representative of this classic US locality. As a cabinet-size specimen, it is well suited for specialized collections of secondary lead and zinc minerals as well as Arizona-focused collections.

Geology & Origin

Arsendescloizite is a rare lead-zinc arsenate that forms secondarily within the oxidation zones of polymetallic ore deposits. The C&B Mine in Gila County, Arizona, is renowned for its wide range of complex secondary arsenates, vanadates, and phosphates formed through intense weathering processes. At this locality, Arsendescloizite typically occurs as small crystals or fine-grained aggregates on iron-rich and quartz-bearing matrix and is considered a characteristic collector mineral of the region.
