Anorthoclase crystal from Kilimanjaro, Tanzania – micromount as unique piece
This piece shows a single anorthoclase crystal with a brownish-gray surface. The matte texture is accompanied by small natural depressions, giving the crystal a distinctive, natural appearance. Despite its compact size, the crystal displays the typical characteristics of the mineral.
The specimen comes from Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a well-known locality for feldspar minerals. Anorthoclase belongs to the feldspar group and represents a solid solution between albite and sanidine. It commonly occurs in volcanic rocks such as trachyte and rhyolite, documenting the complex magmatic processes that have taken place in this region.
