Analcime, Phillipsite xls etc.; Horseshoe Dam, Arizona, USA; 1 unique lot with 7 Min
Analcime, Phillipsite crystals etc. from Horseshoe Dam, Arizona, USA – 1 unique lot with 7 miniature specimen
This interesting lot comprises seven miniature specimens with typical Phillipsite crystals from the well known locality of Horseshoe Dam in Arizona. The pieces display characteristic light to white crystal aggregates on dark volcanic matrix. In places, the crystals occur as small radial or blocky formations within cavities, standing out clearly against the basalt. The development is typical for this occurrence and documents the classic zeolite paragenesis of the locality.
This is a closed lot from the Gerd Tremmel collection, ideal for collectors of zeolites or systematic country collections from the USA. The specimens show well recognizable crystals and represent the locality in an authentic way.
Geology & Origin
Horseshoe Dam in Arizona is known for its zeolite bearing basalts. Secondary minerals such as Phillipsite, Herschellite and other zeolites crystallized in gas cavities of the volcanic rocks from circulating hydrothermal solutions. These processes led to the formation of the typical crystal coatings and radial aggregates, as can also be observed on these specimens.
The product image shows an example of how the minerals can be presented.
The flat and the folding boxes are not included but can be purchased separately.
