This 100 g lot consists of natural rough Chevron Amethyst pieces with colors ranging from pale lavender to stronger violet tones. The material is characterized by clearly visible white to cream-colored Quartz zones forming stripes, angular patterns and, in some pieces, distinctive V-shaped markings. This gives each piece its own individual pattern. Translucent areas may occur alongside more compact portions as well as natural matrix and weathered zones. Shape, size, color intensity and banding naturally vary from piece to piece. The picture shows a sample.

Geology & Origin

Chevron Amethyst is a distinctive growth form of Amethyst in which violet Amethyst and light-colored Quartz occur in successive intergrown zones. Its characteristic chevron or V-shaped pattern develops through repeated growth phases during which the chemical conditions of the mineral-bearing solutions change. The violet color of Amethyst is caused by trace amounts of iron within the Quartz structure combined with natural irradiation. Amethyst commonly forms in cavities, fractures and hydrothermal veins where silica-rich fluids can deposit Quartz over extended periods of time. The offered material originates from Tanzania, a country known for geologically diverse mineral-bearing regions and numerous occurrences of Quartz and gemstone varieties.
