Alacranite from Russia – micromount as unique piece

This specimen displays intense coatings of Alacranite on a brownish matrix. The mineral occurs in bright yellow to orange-yellow aggregates, completely covering the surface and creating a striking color contrast. In micromount size, the fine texture of the crusts is clearly visible, highlighting both the rarity and the aesthetic appeal of this mineral.

The piece comes from the Uzon Caldera on the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia, a classic locality for sulfur and arsenic minerals of volcanic origin. Alacranite is a rare arsenic sulfide mineral that crystallizes in the monoclinic system. It is known from only a few localities worldwide, including its type locality in Mexico and significant occurrences in Kamchatka. Its vivid color and rarity make it a sought-after collector’s mineral.
