Faceted green Agate, 4 x 2 mm, from Brazi – 1 piece
This green Agate from Brazil measures approx. 4 x 2 mm and shows an intense, even green color. The top side of the stone is faceted and polished, allowing light to reflect across the surface in fine reflections and giving the stone a lively appearance. The reverse side is conically shaped and tapers to a point, without a polished surface. This type of cut is typical for gemstones intended to be set in jewelry where the back side remains hidden. The combination of a faceted top and a functionally shaped back makes this specimen particularly suitable for further use in jewelry work.
Geology & origin
Agate belongs to the quartz group and is a fine grained variety of chalcedony. It is known for its wide range of colors and structures, which result from different trace elements and formation conditions. Green varieties develop through corresponding inclusions during formation. Brazil is one of the most important sources of Agate worldwide and has long supplied material in various colors and qualities. This stone shows the typical characteristics of Agate in a compact, cut form.
Application note
The stone is suitable, among other things, for jewelry making such as rings, pendants or inlay work. Due to the conically shaped, pointed back it is especially intended for settings where the underside is not visible. During setting care should be taken not to apply excessive pressure to the stone. For cleaning, lukewarm water and a soft cloth are recommended; aggressive cleaning agents should be avoided.
