Agate with approx. 10 x 5 mm from Madagascar – 1 piece
This fully polished Agate from Madagascar features an oval shape with a flattened backside, making it especially suitable for jewelry work or decorative gemstone applications. The material displays the natural banding typical of Agate in warm orange red and cream tones, giving each stone an individual and decorative appearance. The smooth polish highlights the color transitions and structures of the material particularly well.
Geology & Origin
Agate is a fine grained variety of the mineral Quartz and belongs to the Chalcedony group. The characteristic banding forms through layered deposition of silica rich solutions inside cavities of volcanic rocks. Madagascar is one of the world’s most important sources for decorative Agates and is well known for vividly colored material with attractive natural patterns.
Application Notes
The polished gemstone is ideal for jewelry creations such as pendants rings or collector pieces as well as decorative applications. Due to the flattened backside the stone can easily be mounted into settings or attached to jewelry bases.
