The specimens show dark grey to nearly black, metallic surfaces with rounded to botryoidal forms and, in places, distinctly layered fracture surfaces. Geology & Origin

Hematite is a widespread iron oxide that forms under various geological conditions, including hydrothermal deposits, weathering zones and sedimentary iron formations. The term kidney ore describes rounded to reniform aggregates that often show a layered internal structure and strong metallic lustre. Morocco is known for numerous iron-mineral occurrences from which Hematite in such characteristic forms is also found.
