Garnierite gravel from Sulawesi, Indonesia – 100 g
Fine-grained garnierite gravel with vivid green to turquoise tones, combined with brownish and light matrix fragments. The small, irregular grains show a mostly matte to slightly earthy surface, with some denser and more compact parts. In places, very fine crystalline structures can be observed, adding additional texture.
Geology & origin
Garnierite is a general term for nickel-bearing silicates that form in lateritic nickel deposits. These develop through intense weathering of ultramafic rocks under tropical conditions. Sulawesi in Indonesia is one of the important sources of such deposits and produces garnierite in characteristic green color variations.
Application note
This gravel is suitable for collectors, further processing, or as educational material. Due to its fine grain size, it should be stored dry and handled carefully to avoid material loss.
