Fetiasite crystals from Gorb, Binntal, Switzerland – small cabinet specimen as unique piece
This remarkable small cabinet specimen displays Fetiasite from Gorb, in the famous Binntal region of Switzerland. Numerous dark Fetiasite crystals are scattered across a group of transparent to translucent host crystals, creating a striking visual contrast. The crystals are clearly recognizable and form attractive crystalline aggregates on the lighter matrix crystals. The combination of black Fetiasite crystals with colorless to slightly honey colored host crystals gives the specimen outstanding aesthetic appeal and makes it an interesting collector's piece.
Geology & Origin
Fetiasite is an extremely rare sulfosalt mineral that was first described in the 1990s. The Binntal region is one of the most important Alpine localities for rare mineral species and has produced numerous scientifically significant discoveries. These minerals formed within Alpine fissures where mineral-rich fluids crystallized under highly specialized geochemical conditions. Specimens featuring visible Fetiasite crystals are considered desirable rarities from this world-renowned mineral locality.
