This thumbnail specimen shows Eucryptite in a pale, whitish to slightly cream-colored form with a granular to compact texture. The surface displays a subtle vitreous to pearly luster together with small brownish-orange associated areas. The specimen originates from Bikita, Zimbabwe, and is offered as a unique piece.
Geology & Origin
Eucryptite is a lithium-bearing aluminium silicate characteristically found in lithium-rich granitic pegmatites. The Bikita pegmatites in Zimbabwe are among Africa's important lithium-rich pegmatite occurrences and contain Eucryptite together with numerous other lithium minerals. The deposit is therefore of considerable mineralogical and economic geological significance.
