Albite crystals from Tvedalen, Norway – micromount as unique piece
This unique specimen shows well-formed albite crystals on a pink to grey matrix. The crystals appear as lustrous, partly transparent to white forms that stand out clearly from the darker matrix. Particularly striking is the contrast between the bright crystals and the included darker minerals, which gives the piece an aesthetic appearance.
The specimen comes from Tvedalen in Norway, a well-known locality for albite and other feldspars that occur in the local pegmatites. Albite is an important member of the feldspar group and crystallizes in the triclinic system. It is found in many igneous and metamorphic rocks and is valued as a collector’s mineral for its distinct crystal forms.
