Aegirine crystals from the Aris Quarry, Windhoek, Namibia – miniature specimen as unique piece
This unique specimen features a small area with greenish-black Aegirine crystals contrasting sharply against a light quartz matrix. The crystals are finely developed, partly showing a prismatic habit, and stand out distinctly from the surrounding matrix. The delicate crystal structure is particularly visible in the upper section of the specimen.
The piece comes from the Aris Quarry near Windhoek in Namibia, a classic locality well-known for its rare pegmatite minerals. Aegirine belongs to the pyroxene group and crystallizes in the monoclinic system. Its dark green to nearly black crystals often occur in association with quartz and other companion minerals. Because of its rarity and aesthetic appeal, Aegirine from Aris is highly valued among mineral collectors.
This table is for general information and orientation, although the sizes of the stones may vary. In addition, this specification is handled differently from region to region.
