Tetradymite from Mangafallberget, Sweden –  small cabinet specimen as unique piece

This small cabinet specimen originates from Mangafallberget, Sweden, and features Tetradymite within a compact silver gray to steel gray shimmering matrix. The mineral is clearly visible and gives the specimen its characteristic metallic appearance. Individual crystals are not clearly distinguishable in the picture. The material occurs mainly as massive to finely crystalline aggregates, representing the typical habit of this uncommon bismuth telluride mineral.

Geology & Origin

Tetradymite is a bismuth tellurium sulfide and belongs to the relatively rare group of tellurium minerals. It typically forms in hydrothermal ore deposits and is often associated with bismuth, gold and other tellurium-bearing minerals. Mangafallberget in Sweden is known for a variety of ore mineralizations where rare bismuth and tellurium minerals developed under suitable geological conditions. Due to its chemical composition and its importance as a tellurium-bearing mineral, Tetradymite is of interest to both mineral collectors and scientific collections.
